Curriculum from CDC Website for the National Diabetes Prevention Program
The content of the I CAN Prevent Diabetes Program is based on the National Diabetes Prevention Program and the Lifestyle Intervention curriculum.
The complete Lifestyle Intervention curriculum for 16 weekly core sessions, 15 options for monthly post-core sessions and other resources and tools can be found at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Diabetes Translation enhanced website for the National Diabetes Prevention Program.
http://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/prevention/
For example, CDC has developed a widget that can appear on your organization's website or blog that can serve as a screening tool for prediabetes. In addition to raising awareness, the widget can be used as a first step towards referring individuals to Lifestyle Intervention programs in your area. Find the prediabetes screening widget here and click "share" to find out how to add the widget to your website. The website also has a video that you might use to recruit patients with prediabetes for your program.
Lifestyle Coach Training
In order to standardize the I CAN Prevent Diabetes groups, lifestyle coaches have been required to attend and be certified at a two day lifestyle coach training lead by Minnesota trained Master Trainers. Lifestyle coach trainings have been held in Minnesota in December 2007, August 2008, March 2009 for Spanish speaking lifestyle coaches, July 2009, May 2010, January 2011, March 2011 and November 2011. Over 130 lifestyle coaches have been certified to offer programs in Minnesota.
Information about upcoming training opportunities will be posted to the website.

Successes and Challenges
The I CAN Prevent Diabetes program was piloted in 4 communities from 2007-2009 and is currently expanding statewide to other sites. Evaluation results from those classes will help inform planning efforts for future programs.
